As Rosebay Cottage is superbly located in the heart of Findhorn village, all the village amenities as well as the beach, are within a short stroll.

The village sits beside the shallow waters of Findhorn Bay, a Nature Reserve where the River Findhorn eventually flows into the Moray Firth. This sheltered bay is home to thousands of migrating wildfowl and wading birds as well as being a haven for sailors and water sport enthusiasts.
A stroll along the waterfront will take you to a very sheltered, sandy beach. A little further over the sand dunes, takes you beyond Findhorn Bay to the Moray Firth and an extensive stretch of beach with lots of sand at low tide, when seals are regularly seen on the sand banks.
Enjoy freshly caught fish at the Kimberley Inn renowned for its welcoming ambience and a wonderful place to sit and take in the tranquility of Findhorn Bay. Equally family friendly is the Crown and Anchor close by.
Try some delicious home cooking at The Bakehouse featured in ‘Scotland The Best’. Part of the ‘Slow Food Movement’ and well worth the wait to sample locally sourced organic food. Or why not collect your freshly baked bread from there for breakfast?
Fresh fish from the van on Fridays and a mile’s walk will take you to the fabulous Phoenix Café & Shop [https://thephoenix.uk/] within the Findhorn Foundation eco-village.
Home to the Royal Findhorn Yacht Club, Findhorn is a haven for water sports and the Findhorn Seals Sailing School offers fun lessons for children 8 years and above. A Water Taxi will take you across to the peaceful beaches on the other side of the Bay and being a Nature Reserve, Findhorn Bay is a delight for the wildlife enthusiast, with a bird hide on the Bay just out of the village.
There are many lovely strolls possible from the village which also has its own Heritage Centre. For many families the sandy beaches are just a 10 minute stroll away, which provide the main entertainment and there is also a very good children’s park in the village.
The well known Findhorn Foundation which attracts visitors from all over the world is located just outside the village. It’s a lovely half hour walk along the Moray Coastal Trail [https://www.morayways.org.uk/routes/the-moray-coast-trail/] through the sand dunes and local woodland or alongside Findhorn Bay. Once there enjoy local pottery, immerse into natural living, home-baked pizzas, bread and other local foods as well as its wonderful café with outdoor seating in the garden.
With its mild climate and gentle landscape between the Cairngorm Mountains and the Moray Firth, Moray offers something for everyone. We are only able to mention a few highlights here but you will find all this and more at Visit Scotland. You will also find a folder at Rosebay Cottage full of information on the local area and maps to help you make the most of your self catering holiday.
Walk or cycle along well marked coastal and woodland routes or explore the delights of the Speyside Way and its many Whisky distilleries. Follow the River Findhorn as it carves through spectacular scenery and include a stop at Logie Steading for delicious home baking and a browse around the second hand book shop.
Watch the Moray Firth Bottlenose Dolphins from the shore at Spey Bay and take time to enjoy the Moray Firth Wildlife Centre here. If you aren’t lucky enough to spy Osprey fishing over Findhorn Bay, you can see them at the Boat Of Garten RSPB Osprey Centre.
Visit the Cairngorm National Park where a huge variety of outdoor pursuits await you in spectacular scenery; skiing, cycling and walking to name but a few. Take the Strathspey Railway Steam Train, visit the Highland Wildlife Park, or spend a day at Landmark Park in Aviemore.
The market town of Elgin is only a 20 minute drive away. There is a good Leisure Centre with pool here and its medieval Cathedral remains are well worth a visit. A 10 minute drive from Findhorn will take you to the beautiful Grant Park in Forres, winner of several Britain in Bloom awards.
The city of Inverness is less than an hour’s drive away. With its excellent selection of restaurants and shops, and the recently renovated Eden Court Theatre, it stands up to its reputation as the ‘Capital of the Highlands’. A further half hour’s drive from Inverness, takes you to the shores of Loch Ness.
With the west coast of Scotland only 80 miles away from Findhorn, there is no limit to exploring Scotland from here!
